It's no secret my love for Collective Soul (
http://www.collectivesoul.com/blog/). I am sure I even annoy you all with how much I talk about them, I just can't stop! My first concert was on a Thursday night August 21, 1997 who other then Collective Soul! They were promoting Disciplined Breakdown, I still have my ticket stub and the T-shirt I bought with all my allowance. I was only 13 years old so that meant everything to me at the time.

The next time I was able to make it to a concert was Sept. 28, 1999 The Dosage tour. This one was on a school night and I was so happy my mom took me to go. Unfortunately I missed the Blender tour in 2000, and if I knew a long break was coming I would have done everything possible to see that show.
In the Summer of 2004 I got to actually meet Ed. Granted it wasn't the meeting I had always dreamed it to be. I was completely taken by surprise that I don't think I said a word to him. :) Ed and Dean were promoting Youth at local radio stations and just doing small acoustic sets. I was suppose to be sitting at a hospital waiting for my Aunts surgery to be done. I told my mom they were going to be at the local radio station at the same time. We decided it was more important to be there after the surgery rather during.
We drove down to the station and sat done only a few minutes later she looks over at the door and Ed and Dean walk in. She hits me and says "Did they really just walk in?" With my mouth probably wide open I said "They really just walked in the doors we did!"
Now let me remind you we were planning on sitting in a hospital all morning long. I think I was wearing a sweat pant outfit my hair was also in a pony tail. I also had my four month old son with me. So there I am sitting in some weird outfit and just had a baby. I am sure it was the best I have ever looked! (Sarcastic statement there.)
So we are still going OMG they are just like us and use the same door as us regular people! Ed walks right up to us! He asks us how old my son is and my mom answered him. They talked about his son Lindsey who I believe was 5 at the time. He also said how cool it was that we brought Alex to his show/concert. I just sat and nodded the whole time. I kicked myself afterwards for not asking for a picture with him.
After that they came again to promote Youth, (I can't seem to find that ticket). It was at In The Venue and turned out to be a great show. I did get gum in my hair some how, really sad I had to cut it out and then cut my hair to make it more even. Still not sure how that exactly happened. My guess is someone got really excited when they screamed and spit their gum out on accident. (At least I hope.)
On Oct. 9th they came back to Salt lake City, this time for Afterwords. I was back at the same venue I had my first concert 10 years later. It was an amazing show as always, my mom with me again. She loved Shine when she first heard it on the radio in 1994, we would always jam out to Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. My first CD even was Collective Soul's self titled album.

When I first heard Collective Soul wouldn't be coming back to Utah the next year but over to Wendover, NV. ROAD TRIP! I bought tickets the second they went on sale, and got excellent front and center seats to the sold out show. We booked a hotel room for the weekend and headed out Saturday morning. Listening to as many songs as we could in the 90 minute drive. We pulled up next to the Peppermill Concert hall and saw their picture on the sign along with CANCELLED! I was devastated, we were so bummed and had no idea what to do with ourselves for the remaining time. Our plan was to get there and checked in then get ready for the concert. After the concert we were going to party the night away. We still made the best of the night even though we really wanted to see Collective Soul.
We later found out they rescheduled the show, and bought tickets again. This time the seats were farther back then they were the first time and off to the side. Still pumped to go, and Counting the Days (yes, yes I did just do that) to ROAD TRIP the Sequel! They squeezed in the show at the end of their tour. They laughed cause they finally got the guitar picks they ordered at the beginning of the tour. A lot of people were lucky to get some, I didn't :(.
I do now get to follow Collective Soul on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/collective_soul) which is an amazing thing. I was so excited when I got the email one morning saying Collective Soul is now following you on Twitter. I still have it too he he. I've even be lucky enough to get replied to and received a direct message! I get all off their tweets sent to my cell phone so I always know what's going on with them at the moment. I feel like the biggest geek but it's such a blast!
They are started a new tour soon! You should go to one of their many shows, here http://www.collectivesoul.com/live/ is the list of the dates. I am debating the Las Vegas or Wendover show. I will go to one of them just not sure which one. I would love if they would visit Salt Lake again! They have much love here. Anyone would like to join me on a road trip this September?
