Hello My Name is...

Hello, My name is Victoria and I have an addiction...

Meet my Best Friend, ChapStick!

I don't remember when I started to be so persistent on keeping my lips moisturized at all times. If I had to guess I would pinpoint it around Middle School years, most likely when I started to wear make up. My drug of choice at that time would have been Lip Smackers. My favorite flavors were Strawberry, Cotton Candy, and Bubble Gum. Anytime a friend would ask if you were stuck on a deserted island what 3 things would you have with you. ChapStick was ALWAYS my first item. Then usually CD's or other prized possessions. Never something smart like a boat to get me off the damn island or a personal chef. That's just getting off topic now...

I do remember getting more mature and not wanting to associate with such "kid things". I would rotate from lip glosses and Mint Flavored ChapStick. I haven't seen this one for over 5 years, maybe even longer. I was always chewing spearmint gum and had my minty ChapStick. I always worried about bad breath and needed to be kissable fresh, just in case.

I've started noticing if I don't have ChapStick in my pocket it better be in my purse or on the table in front of me. I even have ChapStick hidden in locations all over my house even in my desk at work. I will start to have anxiety if I some how forget to have any lip balm with me.

I've heard many myths out there regarding ChapStick/Lip Balm addictions. While many others say it's completely false.

First an addiction by definition:

Addiction:(n) the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice,
or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming,
as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

I will admit reapplying ChapStick is a continuing daily habit. However I will not snap and go postal if there is none immediately available to me. Luckily it's only ever a few hours at the most I am deprived of my ChapStick practice. So we won't ever have to witness that mental meltdown.

Personally I think lip balms actually perform as they say they should unlike many other products we use daily. Chapped or dry lips? Try this! Immediate results! That is precisely why so many people use it every day.

Hello, My Name is Victoria and I'm not addicted to ChapStick....
